About Us

The G.M.P. – Employers Retiree Trust began its operations in 1966. It was created to be of service to its contributing employers’ eligible hourly retirees and their spouses.

Participants in the Trust are eligible retirees who were members of what is now known as the GMP (Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union, AFL-CIO, CLC) and who worked for contributing employers. The Trust’s participants include eligible retirees and their eligible spouses. (A spouse is considered to be eligible if married to the retiree at the time of retirement.) Dependent children are not eligible to be covered by the Trust.

Since its inception, the Trust has paid out more than $572 million in medical and life insurance benefits to its participants. For calendar year 2007, Trust participants received about $37 million in medical benefits alone. Today, there are approximately 22,907 participants in the Trust’s Plan of Benefits.

The Plan of Benefits is administered by the Trust office in Fort Myers, Florida.
